Road Cycling Holiday Check-list

Plan your cycling holiday in Spain with the aid of our Road Cycling Holiday Checklist.  This will help ensure you have everything you need to tackle the mountains and climbs of southern Spain. You can also print it out and use it for some ultra-organised packing.

Before you go:

  • Have you reserved your hire bike?

  • Bike service (if you're bringing your own), don’t take high-profile wheels.

Ride kit:

  • Helmet (legal requirement for cycling in Spain)

  • Sunglasses

  • Cycling cap or thin warm hat

  • Cycling bib shorts (Available at CSN shop)

  • Short-sleeved jersey (Available at CSN shop)

  • A light waterproof jacket (check the forecast for the week before you decide to bring one)

  • Gillet - Light wind vest (Available at CSN shop)

  • Windproof Jacket or Race Cape (for the long descents)

  • Short-sleeved base layer (x2 or more)

  • Socks (of the cycling variety and not tennis socks)

  • Mitts

  • Full-finger gloves (January, February & March)

  • Buff (January, February & March)

  • Shoes & spare cleats

  • Arm warmers (January, February & March)

  • Leg warmers (January, February & March)

for your bike (not required for a rental bike):

  • 2 X 500ml water bottle (Available at CSN shop)

  • Multi-tool

  • Pump

  • Tyre levers

  • Powerlinks for chain

  • Small LED Lights (mandatory for passing through tunnels)

  • Pedals and perhaps your own saddle (if renting a bike)

  • Bike computer (CSN don’t supply with the rental bike)

Spares:

  • Inner tubes (2+) (Available at CSN)

  • Spare mech hanger/rear dropout

Personal items:

  • Wash kit

  • Personal medication

  • Painkillers

  • Antihistamines

  • Sunblock

  • Insect repellent

  • A small First Aid Kit (Available at CSN)

  • Energy bars/products (Available at CSN)

  • Hydration tablets (Available at CSN)

  • Chamois cream (Available at CSN)

Casual Clothing:

  • Whatever you’d normally wear but:

  • Beany or a hat for the sun

  • Jumper/warm jacket (ESP January, February & March)

  • Swimming attire

  • Evening shoes/flip-flops

Essential personal items and electronics:

  • Passport

  • European Health Insurance Card (EHIC Card)

  • Personal Travel Insurance (mandatory)

  • Credit Card / Cash

  • Flight details/boarding card

  • Mobile phone + charger

  • Plug socket adaptors
